A trip to visit Daddy

Daddy was working in the office and needed us to bring him something, so we brought it by, said a quick hello, and then headed out behind the music building to play on the marching band practice field.  (There is a ramp in the music building that always gives away our entrance - H likes to elephant stomp his way up or down it).

C took a few minutes to decide he could walk on the grass...
I think his little no-spill snack cup is becoming a permanent fixture.  He doesn't always eat from it, I just think he likes having the option.

H likes to find little things - pecans, leaves, rocks, (or deer poop - yuck!) and bring it to you!  Or just make a collection.  Most of the time this is fun, but sometimes I just don't want any more rocks!!!  I still try to be a good mother and smile anyway....
I think C has seen his big brother doing this and now he has started bringing me pecans when we are out.

Basking in the sun (or Mama's shadow)!
Right after I took this picture, H put a leaf on his eye and said he was a pirate!  He likes Jake and the Neverland Pirates, and pirate ships.  He's been very into pirates lately!

 It's hot, Mama!

Vrooom!  C knows right were to look in my purse for his little cars!
I knew when I became a mother that I would probably always have a pacifier, tissue and bandaids, but I didn't quite imagine a rock collection and toy cars in there too!  You can probably tell by looking at C that when he plays with cars, he also makes the appropriate sound effects!

On the way back through the building, we saw a centipede on the floor.  That kept both boys very interested for a few minutes.  H told me that the centipede was looking for some cabbage, and that he wanted to bring it home to put in his bug box.  I wasn't quite sure how we would get it home...

In the afternoon...

After H had a little "sleeping rest" on the floor,

We went to Square Books Jr, and played for a bit!

C found a lawnmower and a shopping cart to push around the store.  He was very happy until Mama insisted that he stay in the play area with them....
(The wonderful lady who does storytime there, said "Oh, you use real diapers!"  I loved how she said "real" diapers when she saw our cloth diapers!  I told her we love them and have used them for both boys since birth, and she said we should be commended for that!  I don't know about that, but I am glad to be using REAL diapers!)

After dancing his heart out to the music that Miss Jill (Jilly, as H called her) played, H took a  little rest in a comfy chair.

In the afternoon we had fun!

Happy Birthday, Daddy

Daddy's birthday was on Monday, and we celebrated by going to Sardis lake again.  We all had a great time!  Daddy liked it, H had fun again, I enjoyed, C was fine as long as he was not on the sand  (he didn't like it on his feet, so he'd sit down and then get it on his legs,so he'd stand up and get it on his feet again,  and just be unhappy!), so we kept him in the water pretty much the whole time.  Last time we went it was overcast, and I much prefer that!  It wasn't terrible as long as we were in the water, but it was pretty warm!

We sang "Happy Birthday" to Daddy many times, and every time we did, H was certain that we were supposed to give him a present.  Then he would get upset that we didn't have a present!  We'll make sure to have many little gifts for the next birthday!

We spent the rest of the day resting, playing marbles, eating cake, and celebrating Daddy!  We finished the day off by getting a babysitter and going to celebrate some more with N's colleagues and friends.

Happy Birthday, Daddy!  We hope 32 is a good year for you!

A little Sunday swim

Clara Hartwell's great grandfather has a beautiful historic home here with a beautiful pool! ( CH's mama is 37 weeks pregnant now!) They invite us to join them every now and again, and we went today, and had a blast!  We love our little back yard pool, but this is just that much better! Both boys do pretty good at the pool.  H has no fear, (he even jumped into the pool from the top of the water slide one time  - skipping the slide part!  We had a little talk about that one...) but we need to work on his swimming technique, and C is just happy to float along for now.  But we all love to go to the pool and swim!

Poor, loved cat

Leonard gets a LOT of love and attention at our house!

Some of it is gentle

Some not so gentle

Some is on the verge of being an attack

And some of it is just love!

I wonder if Leonard had any idea, when we got him five years ago, what his life would look like?

Sardis Lake

This morning, me and H went on a 'benture (adventure) with Charity and Payton to Sardis Lake.  We had a blast!  It was slightly overcast most of the morning, so thankfully it wasn't too hot!  When we arrived and headed out to the beach, H said "Mama, let's come here every day!"  I think he was pretty happy to be there!

At first, H seemed a little unsure of the water, he took his time going in.

Piggies in the water.

 Little footprints

Before long, he was happy as could be splashing and playing.

He got out a little too far for his feet to touch the bottom and was calling to Payton "Payton, come get me come get my hand and pull me in!"  Don't worry, I was ready to run out to get him if I needed to, but he decided he could swim his way in.  We need to work on his swimming technique a little...

The boys also dug a little river, made roads for their trucks, had some snacks, played at the playground and H built a "house for the baby birds" out of sticks.  What a fun and full morning!  I think we will be visiting Sardis Lake again!

Oh my!

We stopped by the local Farmer's Market this morning, and both boys were just enthralled by the watermelons!  H wanted to pick them all up, C wanted to roll them (and almost rolled himself right over one)... I am a little bit surprised that we didn't break or drop any!  Most of the gray haired ladies immensely enjoyed watching them!

The roly-poly

 The strong man

 There are just so many!

Oh my!
