Growing Independence

Every day it seems like this little guy is trying something new, or getting into something new. Either way - every day holds many brand new experiences!

The last few days have been a shock - as I pass by a room and find him in a new place. This may sound like I am not keeping a watch on him - but we keep our house mostly baby proofed so that he can roam free (we try to have more of a 'yes' environment than a 'no' environment), and I am always listening for him...just in case...

This is one of my favorite new places to find him. Settled into the rocker in his room reading his favorite books. (The bag on the arm of the chair was one of my best sewing projects - just an open pocket with ties for all of his favorite bedtime stories.)

I found him climbed up on a dining table chair today. He had climbed up and gotten my phone and was saying "KK, hey!" (calling my sister, AK - his favorite person!)

I guess the guest room door wasn't closed all the way, but I walked by and found him rearranging my playlist on the computer.

We took a break from all the exploring to go to story time at the library. He loved it! One book was about a little duck and some other farm animals, and H like to say 'quack, quack' when it was quiet and get everyone laughing.
After story time we read some books on our own.

Notice the name of the book he picked out...
This is something we intend to tackle in the near future!

We've survived....

...I think!

Well, we have been in our new house for a little over a week, and all of the furniture is in place, all of the boxes have been unpacked (except for the ones that we will leave packed), and H finally called this place 'home' for the first time today. So, we have been fairly successful in those ways... but, we have yet to childproof all of the cabinets/drawers, we are adjusting to not having family close by, the job process is taking longer than expected, and we are adjusting to a different schedule (Daddy has longer hours and much more studying/practicing than we are used to).
But, we love our new home and the community as well - so that will make the transition a little easier!

A few pics of the house:

Kitchen
I love that it is more open than our old kitchen, but there is sooo much less cabinet space!

Living room - spacious! I love it!

Other angle of the living room - I love how you can see into the dining room and kitchen from it. And all the windows - I love natural light!

Guest room/office/music room

H's room

Our room - has a great view of the woods.

The back porch - the back yard is very slanted - so the porch is where we will spend time. I love the woods behind the house - we've even seen a couple of deer!

My little helper!

In the front - some days H asks for his hat - I guess today was a hat kind of day.

I love those cheeks!

We'll be back

I wish I could say that we are taking a vacation - but we a in the midst of moving.
We will be pulling out on Sunday afternoon - and we are working this weekend, and have an under the weather toddler....

Do you think we can do it?

So, we will be back once we are settled in!

Generations

Nathan's 30th birthday was yesterday! 30 years old! We had a big party with all of our family and close friends - a birthday party/finishing his Masters degree/beginning his PhD/moving party. It was a wonderful evening, fun to be with the people we love. We also got a babysitter - so it was quite a treat for Nathan and I.

This morning we headed to the lake to spend time with Nathan's family. All of the siblings and their children were there. It was the first time they were all together since our wedding almost three years ago!
H loved all of the attention!

Aunt DeeDee took him for a swim in the lake - he wasn't crazy about it at first, but quickly warmed up to the idea!

He spent most of the day with his cousin Jonathan - his new best friend!

He and Stella spent some time playing together too!

We tried to get a picture of them together - H went to kiss Stella right before the picture and they plopped down.

The siblings: Jennifer, Duane, Denise, Nathan and Claudia

The kids and grandkids
(can you tell that someone was getting tired?)

Pawpaw and the grandkids: Katelyn, Victoria, Madeline, Jonathan, Harrison and Katherine.

Daddy's here!!!

We picked Nathan up from the airport last night, and as soon as H saw him, he started giggling and giggling. It was almost as if he couldn't believe Daddy was really here!

After sleeping almost 12 hours, we went to wake Daddy up and H started giggling and snuggling all over again!

Pawpaw and GrandMissy, and Nanny came over for lunch today to see the traveller and we all had a good time listening to stories and playing with the little guy.
