Easter!

The boys loved the bunny ear masks in their Easter baskets!  So cute and silly!

We had Easter dinner at Nanny's house.
The boys were so well behaved and loved the dessert, especially C!

We had an afternoon egg hunt all around Nanny's yard.
So many great hiding spots there!
(they kept asking us to re-hide the eggs!)

After the several egg hunts the boys had a great time playing at Nanny's "park" in her back yard.
I loved the lighting for pictures!

And because I forgot to post it on St. Patrick's Day, here is their St. Patty's picture!

Spring Break

We started off with a craft at Michael's.  Egg canvas painting.  H on the left, and C on the right.  C said there were lady bugs on his egg drinking purple grape juice.  I had plans for a more colorful egg, but sort of liked the simplicity of a white egg after seeing all of the color on theirs!

We went to an Easter egg hunt with a friend.
The boys were "basket fighting" while they waited for the hunt to begin.
C had his face painted like Spiderman and H had a little Pikachu on his cheek.

We had plenty of time to play outside, we had several picnics on our porch, and rediscovered all sorts of toys that they had forgotten about.

They also invented several other kinds of games (because of boredom? or imagination?)

We did the shaving cream method of egg decorating this year.
The eggs turned out nicely, and the boys had great fun with the shaving cream.

We brought some cards to Nanny for her 95th (!!!) birthday, and enjoyed her beautiful yard.
The boys were chasing the squirrels in the yard and discussing how they could get one.

Flood days, part 3

Pulling more things out of the closet, like silly string!

After several days, the roads had finally cleared up enough for us to get out of the house and go somewhere!  We were so happy for a change of scenery!
We went to Altitude, the indoor trampoline park, and got some energy out!  Places to jump, battle, and play dodge ball.  When we got there, we saw about twenty boys and two girls.  It seemed like all of the boys had too much energy, and all of the mamas had the same idea!

And then we got the pink eye that I thought we had avoided.  It had been going around school, and I thought it was going to pass us by, but it was just a little delayed.  I'm thankful for medicine that takes care of it fairly quickly!

While we were quarantined, we had fun with the water in our warm weather.  It felt like summer!

 We took some bike rides.
Our friend gave us her son's outgrown clothes, and the boys were so happy to find matching Ninja Turtle shirts!  They loved matching! (and have since worn the shirts most days)

Once we were out of quarantine, we ventured out to see Kung Foo Panda.

And went to our favorite lunch place for lunch and frozen yogurt.

Flood Days, Part 2

All of the rain gave us wonderful puddles to splash in!

And wonderful mud to play in!
The boys thought that the flood days were the best days ever!
There was no school, I was more relaxed about screen time, and when it wasn't storming they could go outside and get messy!

We also came up with a lot of different projects and activities to do, like making tie-dye Easter cookies

We pulled some puzzles and crafts out of the closet that I had been holding on to.

There was also extra time for "exercise"

And animal snuggling (and animal playing)

 And more mud playing.
(Which was fun until their shoes and feet kept getting stuck in the mud, and I sank up to my knees in the mud.)

 A little hallway croquet

and other creative ideas!

Other than going stir crazy at times, we really enjoyed our days stuck at home!

Flood days, part 1

We knew it was going to rain a lot, but I don't think anyone was quite expecting as much rain as we received.  After going home from school, we got the call that school the next day was canceled.

So we had to get creative with filling our day.  Too much rain and lightning to go outside or go much anywhere.

We started the day off with a little Just Dance Kids on the Wii.

During a break in the rain we went to check out the rising water in the Bayou by our house.  Normally its just a little puddle at the bottom, but by this point it was up about three feet.

C was really happy with his hand full of dirt!

The boys had fun pretending to be cats for a while.  They were getting a kick out of themselves.  Then C went on to be "Puppy Trahan" and has since been Puppy Trahan for about a week!

And then we played with the hose for a bit (because they weren't wet enough already!).

Circus fun!

I may be in the minority here, but I really look forward to when the circus comes to town!
Some of my favorite books center around a circus, and it is just such a fun time!

We took it easy that morning,

And then went to a birthday party for one of H's friends at Chuck E Cheese.
C was so amazed to see so many kids from school there!
The birthday boy asked H to go in the Ticket Blizzard with him, and he did, but was not a fan of it.

We had to get new light up swords for the boys.  They were so happy and excited about it!
I was just thankful that neither of them hit a neighbor with their sword.

They loved the excitement of the circus, and I asked them what circus act they would perform in if they could.  I was expecting an answer like be on the trapeze, human cannon ball, or motorcycle stunts.  C said he would be one of the tigers, and H said he would be a puppy performer.  I might need to reinforce the fact that the boys are indeed humans!  I'm glad their imaginations are working, though.

 All aboard the circus train!

They loved playing by the water fountain afterwords.  I love the pictures.

All worn out now!

Snapshots

Homework...
Homework has started to get a little smoother.  After Christmas, the teachers upped the homework a little bit, and we (I) had a hard time battling through it.  But it has gotten much better, thankfully.  I was ready for us to quit first grade!

Boy Scouts.
H is still loving it.  Me and the little brothers playing cars while the big boys listen to the leader.  A whole group of boys is such a different dynamic from a whole group of girls!  So much kinetic energy.

 Silly animals.
Leonard is very quiet and calm, but seems to always have an eye on the other animals, and will definitely let them know if they are too close!

H's reading is coming along, and as it gets easier, he likes to read more.
Here he is reading to us.

When C helps put the utensils away...

I ran into C in the computer lab at school.  Working on their math in a computer game.  Needless to say, not many of them were getting the math, but I guess they were learning computer skills?

A game of double thumb war.  (I didn't know there was such a thing?) I don't think they had established the rules before they started playing.  It was entertaining to watch.
