Then and now

Just a few pics we've enjoyed looking at since H has been growing, and growing out of things!

Then:
First car ride in infant car seat

Now:
First car ride in big boy car seat!
(We hope it will last us until he is about 10 years old!!!)

Then:
Snuggling with Leonard

Now:
Snuggling (harrassing?) Leonard.

Leonard accepts the attention now,
but he tolerated it a lot more when H would just lay there!

Birthday Boy!

This little boy had a wonderful birthday! Lots of family, friends and excitement! He loves people! He spent most of the time being passed from person to person and playing with the big kids. He was great too! I've seen some little ones have a melt down with all of the excitement and attention, and H was great unless we tried to make him walk, and he really didn't want to open the presents...

Hey! It's my party!

Being loved by GrandMissy

This was too sweet not to put in - our friends Ben and Heidi and their three kids. I still want to crawl up in my Daddy's lap like that sometimes! You always feel safe and loved there!
Nanny and Gretchen there too!

Presents! He gave just about every gift a taste test.
I think they all passed!

The cake passed the taste test too! We stripped him down and let him at it. He surprisingly didn't make a huge mess!
He also learned the joy of licking the plate at his party!

Stop teasing me!

Grandmother love!

Start your engines!
He looks like he's getting ready to race someone here. H spent what seemed like 20 minutes after the party making the rounds on his walker.

Four generations

Parents and grandparents
Can you tell he's getting tired?

That's it, y'all! I'll be taking my nap now!

We planned his party so that it would be between his morning and afternoon nap, and after all of the excitement, pictures, cake, presents and attention, he was definitely ready to be in his bed!

Singing happy birthday - it's difficult to hear in the video, but he was singing along with us. He liked the singing, but he really liked it when everyone clapped!
I couldn't figure out how to get the video turned the right way, so, my apologies if your neck hurts after watching it sideways!

Maybe we can wait a little while before planning birthday number two....

I Love SweetHart and PopHart!

My parents came into town for 'the big event' - H's birthday! We enjoyed every minute of it! Here are a few pictures of the visit - I guess it is a lot of pictures, but so much happened!

While running errands before picking them up from the airport, some smoke started to come up from under the hood, so, with a brand new radiator and AC fan, we started with weekend with a bang! It was smooth sailing after that....

Reading before bed.

Bath time with SweetHart
We had to be careful because Nanny's tub is a lot more slippery than ours!

Waking up from nap time in his pack and play. He likes to put his whole pacifier in his mouth, I guess it must feel good? It made us all grin!

Opening his gift from SweetHart and PopHart. Open it quick!

A stool! One that he can use as a seat now, a step stool later, and a storage place any time! Both he and Leonard really liked it!

YAY!

Clapping with Pop

Reading with SweetHart
Have I mentioned that this boy loves to read? He really does!
Thankfully he got some new books for his birthday, I needed a change!

At the airport - we will miss you!

(If you look closely, you can tell that he also got pink eye this weekend....It didn't seem to bother him, it just looks terrible!)

And, he took his first solo steps! N and I thought it would be fun if he took his first steps while my parents were here, but we thought we would have to practice and coax and coax some more, but about 20 minutes after we got to Nanny's, he was playing with SweetHart and took off walking to PopHart. We didn't catch his first steps, but his second - walking to Daddy.

He still crawls to get around, but is beginning to walk more from object to object, and even steps on his tip-toes!

A good day in the world:

A day to remember!

H's first birthday went much like any other day in our lives, except that instead of getting just one taste of ice cream....

He got one whole spoonful!
And he enjoyed every bite of it!

I can't believe this first year has come and gone already!
He has come so far from this:

Nathan realized that we only get about 18 years with them, and one of those is already gone! Slow down, time!

It was a good day

Blankie love!

This boy loves his blankie!

H has a big blankie and a smaller 'to go' blankie for traveling. Both of which he loves, and both were made by his SweetHart!

Turning ONE!

H will turn ONE on Tuesday, but I know next week will be a little crazy, so I thought I would go ahead and write about what some of his little happenings are.

Food: loves apples, crackers and carrots, and any pureed food. Water.
Enjoys hummus and yogurt.
Does not like Gerber 3rd foods. Doesn't like cooked veggies. Tolerates juice. He doesn't get many sweets, but he does like them - especially ice cream!

Words: Understands the signs for Leonard, Mama, Daddy, milk, food, change diaper and finished.
He signs finished and monkey.
He says 'quack, quack."

Things he likes: his blankie!!! reading, ducks, cars, his Littpe People farm (especially the cow), going places, having family close by, Daddy coming home, bathtime.

Things he doesn't like: saying bye-bye, having his face/hands cleaned....

Things he does: circles my legs while I am doing the dishes or putting on makeup, jumps up and down in his crib when he wakes up.

A year ago, he was just a little bundle of baby blob - and now, he can do so much!!!

SNOW!!!!!

N got out of school early today, and school is closed tomorrow!

This is the third time we've had snow this winter....

But this is the first time that it has accumulated and we could make snow balls!

I'm sure that I saw snow falling like this at some point in my very young life, but I don't remember it... and I'm sure that H won't remember this, but it was a fun experience to share for our little family!!!!

Geaux Saints!

A little football, a little walking....

Last night H went to his first Mardi Gras parade! People were screaming, guns were shot, and beads were thrown... and he enjoyed every minute of it! The nice part is that we live about two blocks from the parade route, so we just walked down the street to see it!
We found that you are more likely to get beads if you have a baby with you... Thankfully he didn't need to show his chest to get them....

Who Dat???

Yum...

Busy week!  Time as an at-home mama can go so slowly sometimes - waiting for naptime and for Daddy to come home - yet it can go so fast!  I promise you it was just Sunday, and now the week is already half over!!!!

Thankfully our week has been filled with plenty of wonderful things - family, friends, faith, fun and food!

Some food love:

Enjoying some apple with Daddy.
We gave him some little pieces of apple at first, but he kept 'dropping' them.  I think he knew that if he kept dropping them, eventually we would give him the whole apple!  He loved it!  When he finally put it down, there were tiny little bite marks!  It's amazing what 4 little teeth can do!

His first chicken bone!!!
MaryAnn had a little bit of chicken and gave H a bone to gnaw on.  At first he was unsure what to do, but then decided that he loved it!

Good life, isn't it?
I often am moved by how many people love this little guy~
Church nursery workers, the nursery ladies at MOPS, grandmother and aunt on Sundays, Papaw and GrandMissy on Wed.'s, PopHart and SweetHart by webcam, our church choir's, Jessie on Saturdays, N and I...... and all of our scattered friends and family.  How wonderful to be so loved!

Do you ever feel like this at the end of the day?
