Black Bayou

Maps in tow, we were ready to check it out!

Traditional first bench picture.  C took it of me and H, I love the sun beams all over us.

H noticed these tiny little worm type things on most of the signs.  Right now all worms/tiny caterpillars are "larvae" to him.

It was a gorgeous day!

Someone was watching us while we walked on the dock!  I'm glad it wasn't too big! We see all sorts of critters at Black Bayou.  Ants, bugs, spiders, birds, alligators, and more.  The only time anything has made me nervous there was when I heard a very loud and very deep "hiss" when we walked by a bushy spot near the water.  We moved very quickly past that part!

We found a little patch of the "Tickle me" fern.  The kind that closes up when you touch it.  I used to love to find it when I was young and would come visit Louisiana.  It still makes me happy to find some!

C found a leaf with some pink fuzzy stuff on it.
What is it, SweetHart?

Taking a little rest on the porch after our walk.

 Cheese!

Cooling off in the "arbor Eatum" (As C says arboretum).

I love my time with these two!

Disney fun

There was a Disney/Frozen event here last weekend.  They had some little activities for the kids, and lots of Disney stars to meet and take pictures with.

In the past, C has more or less had an anxiety attack any time he sees an adult in a full size costume.  I was interested to see how he would do here...

 He had no problem whatsoever!
He was giving all of the characters hugs and high fives.

H, on the other hand, was feeling a "little bit shy" and didn't want to let go of my hand or go meet any of the characters.

C wanted to go see everyone!
The Frozen princesses, Belle, Merida, Jasmine, Jake and Izzy, and more!

H never really warmed up, but Cinderella came and snuck in a picture with him.

C asked Tinkerbell "Where's your dust?"

And C wanted to get up with all of the girls on stage to sing some Frozen songs.

I finally convinced H to go meet Olaf.

Snapshots

I love these wild ones!

Some of H's school work.  Math this time!  I'm impressed with how the teacher has them illustrate their words or math.

Someone let a certain furry someone else get on the couch one morning while I was getting ready...
Tatum looks like he knows he's not supposed to be there, too!

The boys were amazed by their "wrinkle fingers" after swimming for a long time one afternoon. I think it is getting too cool to swim now...

 "Snail" by H.

C, when he gets mad, he gets really mad!  I much prefer H's bad moods, they are fairly quickly dealt with and over, but C's go on for a long time, and are very involved!  On this particular night, I think he had missed a nap and was just over tired, I put him to bed and then heard him being upset, but just let him work through it.  A few minutes later I went to check on him and the pillows were removed, his pjs were off, and he was passed out!  Often he throws everything on the floor, so this wasn't too bad, but this little boy has some fight in him!

Snow cone Sunday!  (or sometimes Monday)  They love the little treat!

To the Fair!

The fair came to town!   We were all very excited to go!  Of course it ended up being an extremely hot afternoon, but aside from that, it was so much fun!

The boys ended up having a great time.  C was too small to ride some of the rides that big brother and our buddy Alex could, but there was usually a ride just his size close by that he could ride on.

On the roller coaster.  H told me "it slowed down and went faster and surprised me!"

Riding in style!

Come on, brother!   Because it was so hot, the boys tired out, but they did great! There was so much to see and do that it kept them going   Snow cones half way through helped get their energy back up.

The petting zoo was a big hit!  They got to hold a baby alligator "with a bandaid around its mouth" (H said).

 And a snuggly bunny

And ride a horse! C has been asking to ride a horse for quite awhile, so he was soooo happy to ride one!

H was pretty happy about it too!

I don't usually dress the boys matching, but it is nice when we go places like this so I can spot them easily, and other people can clearly see that they belong to each other.  And it is pretty cute too!

We saved the ferris wheel for the end, it was so fun, beautiful, and a little bit magical.

And then this one was asleep before we were even out of the parking lot!
It was a fun, hot, and tiring but good day!

Weekend in pictures

 Muffin making
Lemon poppyseed (or popsits or little black sprinkles as the boys call them) and chocolate chip.  The boys must be working hard at school or going through a growth spurt, because they usually just eat one muffin in the car on the way to school, but lately it's been two!

Fun at the play place.  We had great fun for awhile, but they just happened to be the only two kids there this time, so they were bored with playing after about 30 minutes and were asking to color or play on my tablet.  It must be boring to only have your brother and three stories worth of play structure to entertain yourself with....

 C: It's lot of grapes

 Just hanging out....

Playing with Woody Click.  The construction workers were using the building as a parking garage and were taking everyone to jail or the hospital.

 Fun visit to yellow park.

H: "Mama, this (pumpkin) seed looks like Baby Jesus!"
(Not sure I see the resemblance, but I'm glad he was thinking of Baby Jesus!)

Snapshots

Facetime with Pop and Happy Face Finger.
The boys loved it, and now C has to have a happy face on his finger too!

H's illustrated "dictionary" from school. I love getting work home like this!
Although I'm not quite sure what the bottom right "hup" is....

We have antipasti for supper about once a week (salami/deli meat, cheese, fresh veggies, olives, popcorn/veggie chips) and I let the boys serve their own plates (and then I make slight adjustments as needed).  This is their plates before any adjustments.  H's is blue, and C's is green.

H requested I take this picture.  He felt pretty cute.

 "Play with me, please!"

 H's 'number three' practice.

 C's in-the-car artwork.
He told me it was a "shark with two sharp claws."
