Quick trip to Memphis

We had to go up to Le Bonheur in Memphis for a little doctor's visit and got to spend the night with Bubba and Honey.  (I also got to do a little shopping while there.)

Bubba took H out to look at the goldfish in the pond in their back yard.  At first they were sitting in chairs near it, but next time I looked out and they were in it letting the fish nibble their toes.  Bubba told H to run to the window and tell us that they were walking in the water, but when he ran to the window he said "Mama, we're walking on the water!"  A little miracle in the back yard!

H got a little wet in the water, so he took his shirt off.  He seemed to feel very manly walking around the yard with no shirt on.

Bubba and Bubba!
They both share the same name (Charles.  Although our little guy goes by Charlie) and they both have the nickname Bubba.  My Mama grew up calling her brother Bubba - and then I did, and that is what H calls him.  When C was born, I had no intention of giving him a nickname or calling him Bubba...but it just seemed to fit!

Styling with their glasses.
It is always a treat to stay with them.  Both of them are wonderful cooks.  (Bubba fixed us waffles for breakfast and H enjoyed sticking his tongue in all of the little pockets to get all of the syrup that he could!).  They are so hospitable, and it is always a good visit.

Monroe, part two

While in Monroe, we also spent a lot of good time with Pawpaw and GrandMissy.  I do miss being there where we had so much family so close.  But I guess they are still just a car ride away, but I would like to have all of my family right here with me!  One day, maybe....

C got his first boat "ride"  in PawPaw's carport.
I wonder what he would think if we were out on the water?

 PawPaw!

Playing with GrandMissy

Showing GrandMissy his iXL

Duane and Rebekah were in town for a wedding so we got to see them too!  C is normally pretty wary of new people or of people he doesn't see very much, but he took right to Duane.  I guess he looks enough like Daddy that he felt comfortable.

C thought that GG the dog was pretty fun - after he got over being scared of her!  We realized that one night they were having a stare down under the table and it was making him cry.  After he saw GG and PawPaw playing ball (he thought it was the funniest thing he's ever seen!!!) he decided she was ok!

Brothers and brothers

We love family.

Monroe, part one

We decided very last minute to make a quick trip to Monroe.  Pop was heading over to visit Nanny, it was spring break here, and Daddy was heading to South Louisiana to visit some family, so we loaded up and hit the road!  After we took care of a stripped tire halfway there, it was smooth sailing and a great time!

C did some calisthenics with Pop.
He thought it was hilarious!

 Getting ready to head outside.

H had a fun time riding his bike up and down the driveway to Nanny.   The azaleas attracted a lot of bumblebees, and H had a fun time dodging them, too.

I'm watching you!
(Side note:  When H was a baby, he would periodically get mistaken for a girl, but not C!  He is definitely all boy!)

I'll share the shapes with you, Nanny

Pop, what are you doing on the roof?
I think if we would have let him, H would have climbed up and helped Pop out.

We enjoyed seeing all of the family in Monroe and enjoyed our extra time with Pop!

Pop left Monroe early and drove back to Oxford to fix our leaky faucet for us!  And then he picked up supper and held fussy babies while we unloaded everything!  I love coming home from a trip to that - love my Daddy!  Thanks, Pop!

Food!

Awhile back Pop saw a little segment about Oxford on the Ole Miss/LSU game and there was some info about Old Taylor Grocery.  We thought we would try it out while they were here.  We decided to go on Friday night - but when we got there (we arrived shortly after they opened for the evening) they told us it would be about an hour wait.  We didn't have any interest in keeping two hungry boys occupied for that long, so we thought we would try again later.

The boys worked on cooking supper for us that night

 "What should we cook, Bubba?"

Some goldfish, maybe?

 Stir, stir, stir!

On Monday we went for lunch and practically had the whole place to ourselves!  It was just good southern cooking - catfish, fried okra, hush puppies and all!

H really wanted a lemon from our iced tea....
You can see what he thought of it.

C was intrigued by the workers and the decor - turtle shells, moose heads, and writing everywhere!

"Cheese!"

part two

Our days with Pop, SweetHart and KK were filled!  It was a full time job just watching over the boys, not to mention chatting, cooking, Pop fixed or mended a few things for us, and just enjoying each other!  We were busy!

Morning juice and coffee with KK.
This morning H told me KK was his mama.  (We had just been discussing how SweetHart is my mama but lives in CA...) I corrected him and said "No, KK is your aunt."
He said "Right.  KK is my aunt, she's my best girl!"

Watching animals in the wild on SweetHart's iPad.  I think H would like his own iPad!

We went for a little walk around the square.
H did a little climbing and playing, and then we stopped at YaYa's and got some frozen yogurt.  He was happy about that!

Pop and H looking for the white squirrel out the back. We saw it a few times.  I think we figured out that it is an albino squirrel, because it does have pink eyes.

We were all cracking up about the clown noses, but I'm not sure H new what to think about them...  It just didn't seem quite right...

Talking to KK through the door.  He just couldn't bear to be separated from her!

Thumbs up!
H is very in to thumbs up (or pointers) up these days!

How many Hart's does it take to get a little boy ready for bed?
I know that C was not minding the extra attention!

Hey!  Play with me!

KK and H doing some art.  She gave him a little travel mug that he could personalize.  They personalized it together.

Come again soon!  I hope we didn't wear you out too bad!

Visitors, part 1

 Happy as two clams!
Leonard is not a visitor, but this was just too sweet!  H is finally learning that Leonard will stick around longer if he is sweet to him instead of tormenting him - and Leonard is loving the extra cuddles and pats!

Pop, SweetHart and KK came for a little visit, and we had such a great time from start to finish.
Lots of loves, giggles, wrestles, hugs, meals, and good stuff!

These boys can be good snugglers if you catch them at just the right moment!
SweetHart's always have hugs to give.

The boys certainly did not mind the extra attention!
C loved everyone, but he and Pop had a special connection.

H and KK were fairly inseparable.  Doing Play-dough.

We took everyone on a little tour of campus, and stopped by the Paris-Yates chapel and N gave us a wonderful concert on the organ.

They even insisted that we go on a little date, so of course we couldn't refuse!

This is what we found when we returned home.  Two peas in a pod, as happy as can be!

Monday, already?

Where has this week gone?  We have been getting back to our normal routine, taking care of an etsy order or two, and preparing for a consignment sale.  I just edited pictures from our visits with family and will be getting them posted soon.  But until then, here is a video of C trying to drink the bath water (he started doing this when Pop, SweetHart and KK were here), and a couple of pictures.

catching up on some rest

and catching some caterpillars.  They are everywhere!

I am hoping this week will be a little bit more routine!

Bugs!

We enjoyed a wonderful visit with family and a quick trip to Louisiana.
It was sort of fun that on the day everyone left, this beautiful moth arrived on the ceiling of our garage!

After the boy's naps this afternoon we went outside with our snacks.  While we were sitting there, we noticed caterpillars walking across the driveway one after the other.  H thought they would go perfectly in his bug box.  That was after we had a heart to heart conversation about not stomping on them (I think he's seen us stomp on too many spiders in the house lately.).
He liked to get a leaf for them to crawl onto and then put them in the bug box.  He was very happy about his "carrerpirrars."

"They look yummy!"

He gave them some leaves, pine needles and green grass to a snack.

 "I'll catch the next one!"

H gave them a not so gentle release back in the wild.
I wonder what we will find outside tomorrow!

I will post pictures from our visitors in the next few days - as soon as we get over being sad that they are gone! We had such a fun time with all of our family!
