Socks and sleep

H has been having fun taking shoes and socks off on his own, and the last few days when he does so, one of the socks inevitably ends up on a hand.

Today when we got home from our grocery shopping,
a sock-handed H was "helping" me unpack the groceries.
He was trying desperately to take a bite of the onion,
but thankfully I caught him before he made it through the sking!

"Have one!" he really wanted a chocolate chip

"Mmmm, keshup"

"Stacking 'em" He lost interest in handing things to Mama
and decided to play with the groceries

Before H takes a nap, we get his paci, go tee-tee, get his blankie and then sit on the couch for a minute to snuggle and read a book or two.
Yesterday I was rinsing off a diaper and came into the living room to find H snuggling with his blankie and reading a book on his own.
Don't you want to snuggle with him?

Nanny's Brithday, Part 3

I think this post will take care of the rest of our trip pictures. It was a quick weekend, but we sure packed a lot of fun in! I think everyone left saying "we should do this again next year!" and I definitely agree!

Showing KK and SweetHart how the toys work

Pawpaw!

Hmmm, what to draw?

Playing in Pawpaw's boat!
If only it was in the water....

Love you Pawpaw and GrandMissy!

KK brought H a cake-pop from her work in CA.
H was very happy about it and when he finished, he asked for another treat!

A little down time in the morning with SweetHart

Having a "too cool for words" moment

Tea and stickers - what more could a little boy ask for?

Calling his friends back home while making salad and entertaining KK -
the ultimate multi-tasker!

Nanny's Birthday, Part 2

Part two of Nanny's birthday celebration was a dinner party at a local restaurant. We got all of the babies rested and dressed up, and went out for more fun!

Let's go, KK!

Pop's branch of the family

SweetHart, save me from all of these people!

By this point, H was tired of pictures, people, and was hungry!

After his belly was full, though, he was ready to take out his props and entertain!

The birthday girl saying a few special words.
Isn't she beautiful?

Ollie's iPad was the envy of the evening!

All of the adults enjoyed the evening, and the little ones did too, even though I think they all stayed up past their normal bedtimes. But, there were no breakdowns by either little or big people and everyone had a great time.

KK and H were roommates this weekend, and she said that he didn't sleep very well after all of the excitement. He greeted her so sweetly the next morning that she couldn't help but forgive him for waking her up in the night....

Nanny's Birthday, Part 1

N, H and I headed back to Louisiana this weekend for Nanny's 90th birthday celebration. 90! And she is doing great! We arrived just in time to meet Pop, SweetHart and KK at the airport and then headed over to Nanny's. Shortly after we arrived, the rest of the family arrived (as in, all 4 of Nanny's children and their spouses, all 7 of her grandchildren and their spouses, and all 6 and a half great-grandchildren (the half is our little guy due this spring). So, there was quite a house full with almost 30 of us! Since the weather was so beautiful we headed out back.

So, while the adults were doing a lot of this:
(the lady of honor in looking beautiful in blue and white!)

The little ones were doing a lot of this:

There was also a little bit of cat chasing,

and kid chasing by loving aunts,

some pesky snakes that kept getting the adults,

some admiration of sparkly red shoes,

much waving of leaves
that eventually turned into fairy wings for the girls,

and the adults did a little more talking,

the kids did a little more playing,

and finally after our bellies were full off of Johnny's pizza (a Louisiana favorite),
we headed back in to be calmed by grandmothers,

and a little after dinner artwork.

It was so much fun to see all of the family. And fun to think that all of these people were there together because of she and Papa. ("All because two people fell in love....")It has been many years since we've had everyone together. It was almost even more fun to see all of Nanny's great-grands interacting. The oldest is 6 and the youngest is one - so there was a bit of an age difference, but they all did great together. The two boys didn't know quite what to do with all of the girls, but they held their own.

cha-choo-choo

Today we enjoyed a little time at the train station...

It mostly involved Percy going in and out of the garage,
and the Percy getting stuck in the garage,
and having to fix the garage, over and over....

and lining up the people on the tracks...and knocking them over.

But it was all very fun for this two year old and his mama!

Luck of the Irish

Today we celebrated St. Patrick's day by enjoying the outdoors and doing a little yard work!

H is at the age where helping Daddy do some work is still fun and exciting!
I'm sure in a few more years the fun aspect of yard work will wear off...
N even found a H sized rake to use. H loved it! He would 'rake' a little and then push around his wheelbarrow to collect pine cones and sticks.

And I helped too....by taking lots of pictures!
(30 weeks!)

H is really into collecting nature tidbits - sticks, rocks, pine cones, flowers... I'm sure the neighbors won't mind a few flowers missing, right?

I found you!

The rake became a horse/doggy at one point.

Hard work for a little guy!

Waiting for some friends to come celebrate with us:

We had corned beef and cabbage for supper, with some Irish Soda Bread and Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert. It was all good, but the Sticky Toffee pudding was definitely the highlight! Make it when you can - soooo good, and very rich - so you only need a little. (I didn't have dates on hand so I used raisins and couldn't tell a difference)

H got this month's free book from the Imagination Library and was studying up on an important topic! (If you haven't already, sign up to get your little ones a free monthly book.)
