N, H and I headed back to Louisiana this weekend for Nanny's 90th birthday celebration. 90! And she is doing great! We arrived just in time to meet Pop, SweetHart and KK at the airport and then headed over to Nanny's. Shortly after we arrived, the rest of the family arrived (as in, all 4 of Nanny's children and their spouses, all 7 of her grandchildren and their spouses, and all 6 and a half great-grandchildren (the half is our little guy due this spring). So, there was quite a house full with almost 30 of us! Since the weather was so beautiful we headed out back.
So, while the adults were doing a lot of this:
(the lady of honor in looking beautiful in blue and white!)
The little ones were doing a lot of this:
There was also a little bit of cat chasing,
and kid chasing by loving aunts,
some pesky snakes that kept getting the adults,
some admiration of sparkly red shoes,
much waving of leaves
that eventually turned into fairy wings for the girls,
and the adults did a little more talking,
the kids did a little more playing,
and finally after our bellies were full off of Johnny's pizza (a Louisiana favorite),
we headed back in to be calmed by grandmothers,
and a little after dinner artwork.
It was so much fun to see all of the family. And fun to think that all of these people were there together because of she and Papa. ("All because two people fell in love....")It has been many years since we've had everyone together. It was almost even more fun to see all of Nanny's great-grands interacting. The oldest is 6 and the youngest is one - so there was a bit of an age difference, but they all did great together. The two boys didn't know quite what to do with all of the girls, but they held their own.
