Happy 4th!

We enjoyed checking out what Oxford had to offer for the 4th - it was definitely a small town celebration - there was no huge parade but a childrens parade, and the fireworks show was small but good. I think for our little family with a new baby and an active two year old (and a still sleep deprived mama ) the festivities were just about right!

Waiting for the parade to come through

Charlie was eagerly waiting too!
(guess who is already in 3-6 months clothes???)

Watching the parade from Daddy's shoulders

Walking down to see the parade circle back around.
The parade started at 10am and we were back in our car by 10:30, and we watched it twice!
Small but fun!

I loved this clown!

Our friends from down the street came over and grilled supper with us and then we went to check out the fireworks. I was so tired by the end of the day that I wasn't very excited about going - but N convinced me we would have a good time, and he was right!
The fireworks were taking place in the baseball stadium at the university, so we parked by a hill on campus and waited for nightfall.

On the hill where we watched the fireworks

Henry and Harrison doing their thing!

Waiting for the show

I thought maybe the boom of the fireworks would keep C awake,
but he slept through most of it.

This was the first time that H saw the fireworks - last year we put him to bed and then walked out to our front step to watch them. We didn't know how he would react but were pretty sure he wouldn't be afraid. This little boy seems to have no fear! He was excited to see the colors and lights when the fireworks were going off but kept looking behind him to see more when the big boom would echo behind us. After a few minutes of the show it seemed like no big deal to him - "of course there are light shows - what's the big deal?!?" He kept telling C to wake up and look at the fireworks too. He didn't want brother to miss out!

H is ready for next year's celebration!
