A mover and a shaker

H still does not crawl, nor does he really seem to have any interest in crawling.
About three minutes before I took this picture,
he was about four feet to the right on top of the play yard that is now folded in half.

At least he took the elephant with him....

A boy and a cat

One of the signs that H has learned is Leonard. He doesn't know Mama yet. He doesn't know Daddy yet, but he does know Leonard. If Leonard is around and you sign it, he will look around for Leonard until he finds him. H loves Leonard. Everytime Leonard comes into a room he watches him walk by, watches him sit, watches him doing whatever he may be doing. Mealtime also goes a lot smoother for H if Leonard is close by!
Notice how happy H looks with two fistfuls of fur!

Leonard, on the other hand, does not hold the same love for H. Whenever H starts his high pitched squeal - Leonard leaves. If H starts grabbing, Leonard leaves or looks at H like he's saying "Stop!!!"
Ears hold a special fascination.

H is in heaven. Leonard is.....

A look behind

This was taken at my cousin's baby's first birthday party about a month ago. My Aunt took this picture, and she just sent it to me. Thought it was sweet! The little guy all snuggled up in his sling...I looooooovve babywearing!!! It keeps both mama and baby very happy!

My little helper!

H has been such a big helper lately!!! He has helped me pick out music for the church choir that I direct. It has been so much nicer now that he can sit up pretty well by himself. I can plop him down and give him a toy (or a music catalog) and he will be happily occupied for a few minutes! But, then I don't get much done because he is soooo cute that I just simply must pick him up and snuggle him!
Could you resist this smile?

I have joined up with the local MOPS group. The first meeting was yesterday, and I think I will enjoy it. There was a lot of sitting and chatting/waiting, and I would enjoy a little more structure. But - it is a good chance for me to socialize and meet other mothers, and a good chance for H to begin to socialize a little. So, we'll see!
H went to Mopettes (like a church nursery) and the sweet grandmother that was in the baby room said that he is so 'squeezable.' Chubby cheeks, arms, legs - he is definitely oh so squeezable and snuggly!!!

An etsy order ready to go from my shop.

An upcoming project that I am very excited about!
I have been sewing so much lately that it will be nice to switch to crocheting for awhile!

Leonard's Words of Wisdom

Hide and seek is not only for humans!

What's been going on around here?

Well, a lot of crafting.... I think I have a problem.... But, thankfully, Leonard has been around to help.
From L to R: Two dish-towels turned into a child's paint/coloring apron, Blue dish towel turned tote bag, two key fobs, music tote bag, green dish towel turned tote bag, halloween/fall tote.

A close up of the embellishments. I've been a little into yo-yo's lately.

A Waldorf inspired Star Baby

I realized that the reason I (and possibly other mothers) enjoy crafting so much is because you have a visual that you actually accomplished something. Otherwise, my days are soooo busy - taking care of home, husband, child, and cat, but at the end of the day I feel like I have nothing to show for it. (Although I guess a clean home, fed husband, and happy and thriving baby show a days worth of work...) But, if I sit down to sew/create something, in an hour, or a few days, I will have something that I can say "See? Look, I did something!!!!" So, those are my thoughts on crafting.

Yes, Nathan and I are officially fuddy-duddy's. Last night after putting H to bed, we sat, talking, watching a TV show about star formation while I was embroidering a bag. I mentioned this to N, and he said, "well, I like to learn!" Point in case. And then I proceded to go to sleep at 10pm. On a Friday night!!!!

H has been eating soooo well! He loves bananas, sweet potatoes, peas, pears, zucchini, apricots, squash, and he tolerates cauliflower. I think we will try green beans today.
Having some morning squash.
He makes it look soooo good!

I've joined the local MOMS club, and have enjoyed having a time to meet up with other mothers and just get out of the house, have H around other kids, etc... Once a month they have a Moms Night Out, and we went this Thursday. N turned into Super Dad and took H to the store with him, fed him, bathed him, and put him to sleep by the time I came home. It was nice to be out of the house sans baby for a little 'mom' time, knowing that H was in capable hands.

This is what I found when I came home.
H sleeping sweetly snuggled in his Daddy's arms...

...and Leonard snuggled sweetly under H's play blanket.

I don't k now why he likes this....

but for some reason he does!

I don't even know how we figured out that he likes this, but now we can't stop doing it! It makes him laugh every time. I know it looks a little harsh or something, but I promise you he loves it!

My boys, craft update and labor day

My boys!!!
(they all look happy...
...except Leonard)
This is the finished project from the picture I posted the other day!
A "My body" book - the kind where it teaches babies where their body parts are.  But, this one, instead of having pictures of other babies has all pictures of H's body!!!  It is a soft accordion book.  You can see more pictures of it in my Etsy shop!!!

We've got a smart cookie!!!

Who, me?

Yep, they're talking about me, it's true!

We are still signing with H often and when he is done nursing I sign "milk finished", after changing a diaper "change diaper finished," or if I am wiping his nose (which he hates) I sign "finished."  Last night he had pears and sweet potatoes for supper (which he loves) and when it was gone I signed "finished" and he started crying!!!  He didn't want his food to be gone!
Sometimes it is hard to see if he understands or recognizes the signs, so it is very gratifying when he clearly does!
Are you proud of me too?

Some things I've made...

After starting H on food, I realized that I would need something to cover myself -
so the mysterious orange stuff (sweet potatoes, carrots, squash) would not continue to end up all over me!
Behold: the apron (and a haircut)
(I just knew I was not going to be one of those ladies who cut their hair short after having a baby...
but, alas... It is just so much easier and it is not always in his mouth now!)

And what, might you ask, is this?

An instant high chair!
It held him up pretty well, although I will probably continue to keep a close eye on him because he is soooo squirmy!
And, something simple, and not baby related:
A pillow for our bed to add a little light.

Hoo's that?

Three little owls that I enjoyed making from some baby socks.  They were surprisingly easy, and tremendously fun!  They hang from the handle on H's car seat.  He loves to bat at them with his hands, occasionally getting one into his mouth!
The cutest owl of all:

We have a lot of plain white onesies, and this was was just begging to have an owl on it.  This is one of my favorite simple things to do.  They also make quick, easy, and inexpensive gifts for babies!
