To grandmother (and grandfather's) house we go!

We are finally here at SweetHart and PopHart's house! We have been preparing and planning for the last few days - practicing with the portable DVD player, creating new pages (pictures soon) for the quiet book, and packing and praying for a flight with not too many tears!

And we made it! Except for a few tears while he was trying to fall asleep on the plane, H was very well behaved! He slept a little, watched a couple videos (I guess the fact that he doesn't watch much at home paid off - his eyes were glued to the screen!), played with the quiet book, made friends with a few other babies on the plane, and learned the sign for plane too!

Lunch at the airport - he loved the rosemary foccacia bread from my sandwich.

H and AK (Aunt Karen) have been best buddies since we arrived. This little ledge is their "spot" where they crawl to, sit and talk on, crawl to the mirror, and then back again! He loves AK! This morning during breakfast he was bringing her all of his best toys here and telling her about them.

We walked over to the park at the greenbelt and played. We all had fun!

Reading with SweetHart (he says 'DaDurt' and calls PopHart 'Bop').
Doesn'tthis picture make you want your grandma?

He found a chair that he can climb on. Doesn't he look guilty?

Mmmm. Water (which he signs and calls 'wuget')
Good times, and I am loving having a little bit of down time - with so many playmates for H here, I am not sure quite what to do with myself!

Good times with SweetHart

We had such a good time with SweetHart! We packed a lot into her visit: many diaper changes, a few sleeps, lots of goldfish and cheese, a trip to the park, date night for Mama and Daddy, books read, sticks and leaves picked up, a shopping trip, good food, a couple episodes of Survivor, lots of family, and much more!

Watching Survivor together
(I have on my war beads and loin cloth to get in the mood!)

Taking a break for a little light yard work.

Aren't we cute?

It's been a busy weekend, and I'm ready for a nap!

Come back soon, SweetHart!

SweetHart!!!!

Yesterday after my nap we went to pick SweetHart up from the airport! I was so happy to see her! It took me awhile to figure out how she got out of the computer though... (We talk to she and PopHart on the webcam a lot!). But, after she laughed with me and played peek-a-boo with my blankie on the way home, I decided it was alright!
She brought me two new books!
I had to test her to see if she was going to let me stand up in the bathtub, but she passed and told me 'no.'
This morning she asked Mama to take me to my favorite park!!!

Come on, let's go!

Weeeeee!!!!

Peek-a-boo, Mama!

Look at this!

I am having so much fun with SweetHart! What will we do tonight when Mama and Daddy go on a date???

An 'eggstra' special day!

Check out last year's Easter post if you have a minute!

This little guy had his second Easter today! We had planned an outfit for colder weather but had to regroup a little because it was almost 90* today!!! We had a little egg hunt at Nanny's, and he found a couple of them but seemed to be thinking 'of course there are eggs everywhere!'

I just noticed that H's legs look like they are about two inches tall in this pic! I think he got my legs!

(a little yoga break)

He was getting hot and tired at this point!

GrandMissy and Papaw came over for Easter dinner.

We were having fun after supper turned H upside down, immediately after I turned him upside down he giggled and tooted!

Happy Easter!

SweetHart's blankies

My mama (SweetHart for H), has made a blanket for all of us in our little family. They all somehow end up being just the right color, weight, and pattern. And we all love them!

Here are pictures of all 4 of us enjoying SweetHart's blankies tonight:

Leonard's came in the mail this week. We keep it on the bed during the day, and at the foot of the bed at night. He enjoyes playing with the tassels on it and cuddling up on it

I have written before about how H loves his blankie! My mama's Mama made my baby blankie, and I loved the idea of my mama making H's baby blankie too! We chose the colors and pattern before we knew if H was going to be a girl or boy, and it ended up being perfect for this little one, and he definitely seems to be as attached to his as I was to mine!!

This is my 'big girl blankie.' It is the same pattern as my baby blankie, but bigger! Mama made it for me for High School graduation, and gave it to me when I left for college. It is so cozy, and even has a little yarn from my baby blankie woven in. A wonderful treasure!

This blanket Mama began making before N and I got engaged, and she gave it to us right before we got married.

It is wonderful that we can literally wrap ourselves up in SweetHart's love!

We love you, SweetHart!

Daddy's home!

Daddy's been home on spring break for the last week and it has been wonderful!!!!

Daddy and I have been practicing our duets together

Because I have been taking one nap these days, we all have quiet time in the afternoons.
Daddy taught me that books are better upside down!

Daddy says I'm a big helper when it comes to dishes.
They take all of the fun dishes away, though....

He reads a mean 'Tom Kitten.' Beatrix would be proud!

Whew! Daddy, you wore me out!
Sleeping on top of all of his blankets...

About ten minutes later under all of his blankets...

Memphis, TN

We took a trip to Memphis this weekend. N had an ACDA choral conference, and my aunt, uncle and cousins live there, so we had a jam packed trip of music and family!

Our driving beverages have changed a little bit in the last year!

Our hotel was downtown, and just a trolley ride away from Beale Street
Beale Street Baby!

Sweet Dreams in the Pack-n-Play
When he wakes up, he likes to drag his fingernail along the mesh side of the crib. It makes an interesting noise at 2am!

Looking at the pond with Uncle Bubba

He and Candy made good friends! They were both about the same size, but she was a little faster than H. And, she thought that he tasted very good!

Don't you just want to go squeeze him?

He was making this face because he knew he wasn't supposed to eat the seed pods from the ground. It also give a good view of his two front teeth!

I know, he's cute!

Are we home yet???

health update: H is feeling much better! We figured that the pink eye led to the ear infection which led to the antibiotics, which led to thrush, but, I think we are finally coming out of the woods. The dr. has gotten a nice pay raise from our visits!

Birthday Boy!

This little boy had a wonderful birthday! Lots of family, friends and excitement! He loves people! He spent most of the time being passed from person to person and playing with the big kids. He was great too! I've seen some little ones have a melt down with all of the excitement and attention, and H was great unless we tried to make him walk, and he really didn't want to open the presents...

Hey! It's my party!

Being loved by GrandMissy

This was too sweet not to put in - our friends Ben and Heidi and their three kids. I still want to crawl up in my Daddy's lap like that sometimes! You always feel safe and loved there!
Nanny and Gretchen there too!

Presents! He gave just about every gift a taste test.
I think they all passed!

The cake passed the taste test too! We stripped him down and let him at it. He surprisingly didn't make a huge mess!
He also learned the joy of licking the plate at his party!

Stop teasing me!

Grandmother love!

Start your engines!
He looks like he's getting ready to race someone here. H spent what seemed like 20 minutes after the party making the rounds on his walker.

Four generations

Parents and grandparents
Can you tell he's getting tired?

That's it, y'all! I'll be taking my nap now!

We planned his party so that it would be between his morning and afternoon nap, and after all of the excitement, pictures, cake, presents and attention, he was definitely ready to be in his bed!

Singing happy birthday - it's difficult to hear in the video, but he was singing along with us. He liked the singing, but he really liked it when everyone clapped!
I couldn't figure out how to get the video turned the right way, so, my apologies if your neck hurts after watching it sideways!

Maybe we can wait a little while before planning birthday number two....
