SweetHart's blankies

My mama (SweetHart for H), has made a blanket for all of us in our little family. They all somehow end up being just the right color, weight, and pattern. And we all love them!

Here are pictures of all 4 of us enjoying SweetHart's blankies tonight:

Leonard's came in the mail this week. We keep it on the bed during the day, and at the foot of the bed at night. He enjoyes playing with the tassels on it and cuddling up on it

I have written before about how H loves his blankie! My mama's Mama made my baby blankie, and I loved the idea of my mama making H's baby blankie too! We chose the colors and pattern before we knew if H was going to be a girl or boy, and it ended up being perfect for this little one, and he definitely seems to be as attached to his as I was to mine!!

This is my 'big girl blankie.' It is the same pattern as my baby blankie, but bigger! Mama made it for me for High School graduation, and gave it to me when I left for college. It is so cozy, and even has a little yarn from my baby blankie woven in. A wonderful treasure!

This blanket Mama began making before N and I got engaged, and she gave it to us right before we got married.

It is wonderful that we can literally wrap ourselves up in SweetHart's love!

We love you, SweetHart!

Express yourself!

I have always wanted to raise children who can express themselves... I imagined that lesson would begin when they were beginning to talk. I didn't realize it would happen before that milestone!

(These pictures were all taken within about a ninety second time span.
I'll let you make your own captions.)

Lastly (just because it's cute):

Daddy's home!

Daddy's been home on spring break for the last week and it has been wonderful!!!!

Daddy and I have been practicing our duets together

Because I have been taking one nap these days, we all have quiet time in the afternoons.
Daddy taught me that books are better upside down!

Daddy says I'm a big helper when it comes to dishes.
They take all of the fun dishes away, though....

He reads a mean 'Tom Kitten.' Beatrix would be proud!

Whew! Daddy, you wore me out!
Sleeping on top of all of his blankets...

About ten minutes later under all of his blankets...

Memphis, TN

We took a trip to Memphis this weekend. N had an ACDA choral conference, and my aunt, uncle and cousins live there, so we had a jam packed trip of music and family!

Our driving beverages have changed a little bit in the last year!

Our hotel was downtown, and just a trolley ride away from Beale Street
Beale Street Baby!

Sweet Dreams in the Pack-n-Play
When he wakes up, he likes to drag his fingernail along the mesh side of the crib. It makes an interesting noise at 2am!

Looking at the pond with Uncle Bubba

He and Candy made good friends! They were both about the same size, but she was a little faster than H. And, she thought that he tasted very good!

Don't you just want to go squeeze him?

He was making this face because he knew he wasn't supposed to eat the seed pods from the ground. It also give a good view of his two front teeth!

I know, he's cute!

Are we home yet???

health update: H is feeling much better! We figured that the pink eye led to the ear infection which led to the antibiotics, which led to thrush, but, I think we are finally coming out of the woods. The dr. has gotten a nice pay raise from our visits!

Diary of a Sick Boy

I tried to tell them that I wasn't feeling well, but they just didn't understand what was happening.... Finally they took me to the doctor. She knew what was going on! She told them that I had a double ear infection! One in each ear! Are you impressed? A double!!!

When we got home, Daddy helped me keep my head up so I wouldn't fall asleep.

They kept trying to entice me by opening the dishwasher and not even guarding the silverware, but I was just not interested. I sat here for a long time. It felt good to sit.

Did you know that a diaper change is really the perfect time for a quick nap?
Go to sleep in clothes and wake up in pajamas!
How good does it get?

Mama usually doesn't let me watch TV, but she does now!!!
I wonder if she will still let me when I feel better....

Today I felt a little better and wanted to get a closer look at the TV.

The nice thing about being sick is you get to watch TV, snuggle, snuggle, snuggle, get to carry your blankie around everywhere and get to sleep a lot!

The bad thing about being sick is that they try to force you to eat and drink and take you to get shots...

Now I am feeling better though, so we'll see what I can get away with....

102.1

It's my very first fever...

I should probably be more excited about a first....

Would you come and snuggle me and read me a story?

(H makes a pitiful patient! We've been cuddling - a lot - and reading and.... watching TV!!!
His daddy (who also has a stomach bug) doesn't' make a much better patient.

Who will take care of me if I get sick?)

Music

N and I are both music majors, music teachers, church musicians. Needless to say, that there is a lot of music in our home. H wakes up to 'In the Leafy Tree Tops" goes to sleep to any of a variety of lullabies. Lullabies play after H goes to sleep. We sing fun songs during play time. N teaches music all day, he often practices music at home, I listen to music while H is sleeping. So... our home is quite literally, filled with music! What does that mean for H? We've seen children whose parents are musicians, and they either end up loving music themselves, or hating it. I hope he ends up loving it!
H has a couple of toys that play the alphabet song or other kids songs, and if we are both around, N and I will start singing along and harmonizing to it. We foresee that when H is in preschool and brings his little friends home he will tell them: "Whatever you do, don't start singing!" because we will embarrass him by getting so into it!

H's favorite CD:
You Are My Little Bird

It is on the top of his playlist!

Composing a little ditty!

If a good song comes on he starts dancing a little with his two index fingers in the air - our little conductor!
